Gov. Buni Swears In Commissioners, Perm. Secs, Others

Governor Mai Mala Buni on Thursday boosted his cabinet with two commissioners and 28 special advisers.

He also sworn in the state Head of Service(HoS) and four Permanent Secretaries.

The new commissioners are Prof. Abba Idris and Alh. Mohammed Mohammed Bara, while the HoS is Hamidu M. Alhaji.

Charging appointees to contribute positively to the government policies, programmes and projects, the governor told then to be prudent and transparent on their duties for the benefit of the people of the state.

He said: “You are also expected to use your wealth of experience and inject new ideas to add value to the achievements recorded by this administration. You should be mindful of serving the people first with great consideration to the future of the state.

“The state is losing experienced hands to retirement, you should cultivate a new effective and efficient workforce to serve our people.

“I want to assure you that the government would provide your office with all the necessary support to train and retrain the workforce to promote efficiency in service delivery.

“Let me, however, warn that this administration would not tolerate favoritism in appointments and promotions to undeserving persons while the most qualified and deserving persons are abandoned and frustrated.

“We must promote competence and merit to make the civil service efficient and productive. We must differentiate between civil services.

“Most often, our communities are left behind because we fail to bring them on board to understand the workings of government policies and programs.

“The office of a Special Adviser can only be vibrant when there is a working connection with the grassroots to afford you credible inputs, for you to advise from a well-informed perspective.

“Let me state with a sense of modesty that as a government, we have made impressive success in accountability and transparency in governance which has earned the state recognition and awards from reputable international organizations, we must strive to improve on this remarkable feat, as we cannot afford to degenerate.

“As you may be aware, we
have already developed an 11-point agenda to turn around the fortunes of the State in various fields of human endeavor.”
