Fury Fight Possible Now More Than Ever — Joshua

Akin Ayomide

Anthony Joshua has declared that a blockbuster fight with Tyson Fury is “more possible now than ever”, insisting the former WBC heavyweight champion has run out of options.

In an interview with Marca, the former two-time heavyweight titleholder said Fury must now face him after focusing on other opponents.

“I think it’s very possible. I think it’s more possible now than ever. He has no options anymore. He has to fight me,” Joshua told the Spanish publication.

The 35-year-old’s bold claim comes after Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, revealed last month that the Morecambe star is eyeing a trilogy bout with Oleksandr Usyk rather than an all-British showdown with Joshua.

Fury, who announced his fifth retirement in January, suffered the only two defeats of his professional career to Usyk in 2024, losing both bouts on points.

The two heavyweight stars have been on a collision course since their emergence in the 2010s, but have failed to settle their differences despite several attempts to make the bout happen.

Joshua is looking to regain his throne for a third time, emulating Muhammad Ali, and believes a victory over Fury is the best route back to the top of the heavyweight division.

With time quickly passing in their respective careers, Joshua appears confident that the long-awaited clash will finally materialise, despite Fury’s apparent reluctance to commit to the fight that has eluded British boxing for years.
