As the year is running to an end, an activist and human right lawyer, Tope Temokun Esq on Saturday presented cash gifts to some indigent clients and people living within the neighborhood of his chambers in Akure, Ondo State capital.
He distributed the cash gifts during a social gathering he organized to fete his friends, staffers and indigent clients and people living within the neighborhood of his chambers at Ondo Road, Akure.
Temokun, who also appreciated some journalists for their assistance to his chambers through the year, organized a lecture on how to juxtapose work and wellness without undermining each other.
Delivering the lecture entitled: “The Root Cause Of Organizational Failure Or Success,” Dr.(Mrs.) Janet Olaseeni of Psychology Department, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko(AAUA), Ondo State, emphasized on how one could combine social function, managerial function and entrepreneurial function without undermining one’s goals and visions.
She also cautioned that people should not work to live but rather work to have a life.
Dr. Olaseeni observed that a lot of people work without prioritizing their wellness.
She, therefore, advised that the attendees, saying “Find ways to prioritize your wellness in all aspects of your life.”
Temokun disclosed that he decided to play host to his friends, staffers and the beneficiaries of the gifts because of their support for him and his chambers.
He disclosed that on so many occasions when security operatives besieged his chambers, the people in the neighborhood always stood by him despite the unnecessary distraction caused by the heavy presence of the operatives.
The activist and human right lawyer stated that the only way he could appreciate them is by offering them the cash gifts to enjoy the Christmas celebration.
Among his indigent clients present at the event are Segun, who was shot in the leg by Amotekun Corps operatives and later amputated, and Kemisola, the pregnant lady who the lawyer got released from the Olokuta Correctional Home, Akure, having been arrested during the EndSARS protest.
Temokun emphasized on the need to assist the indigent particularly during the current socio-economic hardship in the country.
The beneficiaries appreciated the lawyer for considering them despite his tight schedule.
