Number of Out-Of-School children in the streets would soon be reduced drastically if the plan of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is anything to go by.

The Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Sununu disclosed that President Tinubu has already initiated an agenda to mop up out-of-school children from the street.
Speaking at the ground-breaking foundation laying ceremony of NECO offices in Lafia, Nasarawa State capital, the Minister said the president has resolved to priorities education in the country.
Dr. Sununu, who disclosed that foundation laying of NECO held simultaneously held in six other states Abia, Jigawa, Lagos, Rivers, Sokoto and Taraba, revealed President Tinubu has approved a project tagged “DOTS ” which aims at improving on quality of education in the federation.
According to the Minister , “D” stands for data depository, “O” stands for Out-of-School children, “T” stands for Teacher and “S” stands for Skills.
He said: “The data will include all the data of schools we have in Nigeria right from kindergarten to tertiary institutions, both private and public. We generates Data on our students right also from kindergarten to tertiary level.
“We will do that with relevant constitutional bodies that are given mandate for monitoring and tracking population in Nigeria.
“This will give us accurate number of enrollment, accurate value retention in schools and accurate value of progression from secondary school to tertiary level of education.”
The minister noted that the out-of-school children is a syndrome which the present administration is currently working to remove.
According to him, there are over 20 million out-of-school children which is critical situation that must be addressed quickly it’s ticking time bomb.
