President Bola Tinubu will on Monday evening depart Lagos for Abuja, ending his six-day stay in the state that followed his annual vacation in Europe.
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, titled ‘President Tinubu returns to Abuja.’
According to the statement, Tinubu arrived in Lagos on Tuesday, September 29, after spending his annual vacation in London and Paris.
While in Lagos, the President delivered his Independence Day broadcast on October 1 to mark Nigeria’s 66th anniversary. In the address, he declared an end to the “age of reform” and the beginning of an “age of prosperity.”
Later that day, Tinubu attended the National Premiere of “MKO,” a documentary on the life, political struggle and legacy of the late Chief Moshood Abiola and the June 12 pro-democracy struggle. The screening was held at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts.
On Sunday, the President also paid a visit to the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, at his Iga Iduganran Palace on Lagos Island.
Tinubu left Nigeria for his vacation in the United Kingdom and France earlier in September.
He was reported to have had a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris on September 17.
He did not attend the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where he delegated Vice President Kashim Shettima to lead the Nigerian delegation.
