President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, ahead of the Africa-France Summit scheduled to open later on Monday.
The Airbus A330-200 conveying the President landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at about 12:15 a.m. local time on Monday, the State House media office announced in a notice in the early hours of Monday.
Tinubu’s visit to Kenya, the second since July 2023, marks the second leg of a three-nation tour that began with a stop in France, where he had earlier met with global investors and pledged Nigeria’s commitment to fiscal discipline and economic reform.
The Africa-France Summit, co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto, runs from May 11 to May 12.
Themed “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” the summit focuses on energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, restructuring of global financing architecture and climate action.
The Presidency has said Tinubu’s participation will underscore Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with African nations and France.
It said the President will deliver a statement highlighting his administration’s ongoing reforms to reposition Nigeria as a prime destination for investment and growth.
He is also expected to hold high-level bilateral meetings with top-tier global and African business leaders on the sidelines.
After the Nairobi summit, Tinubu will proceed to Kigali, Rwanda, for the annual Africa CEO Forum scheduled for May 14 to 15.
He is expected to return to Nigeria at the end of the Rwanda leg of the trip, ahead of the APC presidential primary scheduled for May 23.
