Otunba Yomi Akingbade has welcomed the safe release of the teachers and students who were abducted in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing the development as a huge relief to their families, the education community, and the people of the state.
In a statement made available to journalists on Sunday, Akingbade expressed gratitude to God for preserving the lives of the victims and commended the efforts of the security agencies, the Oyo State Government, local authorities, and all stakeholders whose coordinated actions led to their freedom.

“This is heartwarming news for every lover of peace and education. I congratulate the families of the victims and the entire people of Oyo State on the safe return of these teachers and students. Their release has brought renewed hope and joy to many homes,” he said.
Akingbade also applauded the courage and professionalism of the security personnel involved in the operation, noting that the successful outcome underscores the importance of intelligence-driven security operations and effective collaboration among relevant agencies.
While celebrating the development, he stressed that the incident should serve as a wake-up call for governments at all levels to strengthen security around schools and vulnerable communities.
“Our schools must remain safe havens for learning. No child should be denied education because of fear, and no teacher should have to risk abduction while carrying out the noble responsibility of educating our children. Governments must continue to invest in modern security infrastructure, intelligence gathering, and community-based policing to ensure such incidents are prevented,” Akingbade stated.
He further urged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could help prevent criminal activities.
Otunba Akingbade prayed for the victims’ speedy physical, emotional, and psychological recovery as they reunite with their families, expressing hope that Oyo State and Nigeria would continue to make progress in the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes.
