As the off-circle gubernatorial election in Ondo State is less than two weeks, indigenes of Osun State resident in Ondo State on Tuesday declared their support for Peoples Democratic Party’s gubernatorial candidate, Agboola Ajayi, and endorsed him as their preferred candidate.
The Osun State indigenes, who sent two representatives from each of the 18 local government areas of the state, converged at the NUJ Press Centre, Akure, Ondo State capital, described Agboola Ajayi as a grassroots politician who is abreast of the challenges of people in all nooks and crannies of the state.
Speaking at the event, Alhaji Kehinde Ayinla, Chairman, Osun State indigenes in Ondo State, explained that their support for Agboola Ajayi stemmed from his understanding of the challenges of the people and the state.
He, therefore, on behalf of all Osun State indigenes resident in Ondo State, adopted and endorsed the PDP candidate, promising that they would work tirelessly for the party to emerge victorious at the poll.
Present at the event, Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke told the people that Agboola Ajayi is an experienced grassroots politician who is close to the people.
He assured them that he would rescue the people of the state from insecurity and hunger through people-oriented programmes when elected.
Adeleke, therefore, charged the people to return to their base and work hard to ensure PDP wins the poll.
He urged the people to go out en masse on the election day and vote for the PDP candidate and ensure they protect their votes.
Adeleke said: “Go and work, God will surely perform his miracle in Ondo State like he did in Osun.
I am here to support my brother Agboola Ajayi, the PDP candidate.
“The way it happened in Osun so will God do in Ondo State.
We have what it takes to win Ondo State. With God all things are possible. Go out and vote and stay with your vote. Don’t be afraid.”
Appreciating the people and Governor Adeleke for their support, the PDP candidate, Agboola Ajayi, assured the people of collective governance, saying his administration would not discriminate against any residents of the state.
He assured them that his administration would provide an enabling environment that would allow everyone, irrespective of their state of origin, to go about their legitimate businesses.
Present at the event are PDP chieftains among them is Eddy Olafeso, Chairman, PDP National Campaign Council.
