NDDC Partners Zitadel On Akure, Benin Cross-Cultural Movie Production

In an attempt to conserve the cultural history of Akure and Benin kingdoms, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has supported Zitadel Films International to produce a cross-cultural movie on the two kingdoms.

The proposed movie entitled : “Oba Osupa,” would have in its dramatis personae nine professors from Faculty of Arts from different universities in the federation and important traditional chiefs of both kingdoms.

Giving insight to the movie, Comrade Sam Omorege, the producer of the film, disclosed that the movie would showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Akure Kingdom and the Benin Kingdom.

He described the movie as a groundbreaking cross-cultural film, disclosing that the project would require N600 million in production.

Omorege said: “Oba Osupa is a historic film project that showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Akure Kingdom and the Benin Kingdom.

“This monumental project has received partial support from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

“Scheduled to begin shooting on February 24, 2025, Oba Osupa will feature a stellar cast, including prominent Benin and Akure Chiefs, cultural curators, and at least nine professors from the Faculty of Arts across Nigeria’s top universities.

“Notable Nollywood actors and actresses will also take on leading roles in the film.”

Comrade Omorege disclosed that the production team received blessing and support of His Imperial Majesty Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade (Odundun II), the Deji of Akure Kingdom.

He, therefore, appreciated the monarch
on behalf of the production team, for his support and blessings for the production of the movie.

The team also extends appreciated the Executive Director of Corporate Affairs, NDDC, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde for his support.”

Omorege said: “Oba Osupa promises to be a cinematic masterpiece, weaving together the vibrant traditions and customs of the Akure and Benin Kingdoms.

“This ambitious project aims to promote cross-cultural understanding, celebrate Nigeria’s rich heritage, and provide a unique platform for cultural exchange.”
