The Inspector General of Police has been petitioned by some landlords, under the auspices of H.O.B. Housing Estate Landlord Association, in Akure, Ondo State,
over alleged intimidation by some policemen in the state.

The landlords in a petitioned written on their behalf by their counsel, Oluwasola Daodu Esq. and received by the office of the Inspector General of Police on June 28, 2024, want the IGP to caution the Assistant Inspector General of Police, zone 17, in Akure not to allow himself to be used by some individuals.
They alleged that there was a disagreement between them( members of the association) and their chairman over the engagement of security men to provide security services within the estate.
They further alleged that in the course of the face-off, they reported the matter to the police for intervention.
They, however, alleged that the AIG has compromised and no longer handling the matter with fairness.
The petitioners, therefore, appealed to the IGP order investigation into the face-off between them and their chairman.
The petition reads in parts: “Owing to the confident repose in your office by our office, regarding your zero tolerance to Police brutality nationwide, our Client have mandated us to plead to your office to kindly cause an investigation into this matter, as matters between Mr. Bamgbade of H.O.B. Limited and our Client are pure civil matters, which are equally pending in courts, as we have confidence that the Police under your watch will never allow her to be used as a weapon of harassment and intimidation.”
