The manager and agent to late Remo Stars Football Club vice-captain, Tiyamiyu Kazeem, also known as Kaka, has narrated the events that led to the footballer’s death on February 22, 2020.
Aramide said the incident occurred shortly after the players returned from a training session earlier that day.
According to him, Kazeem had informed him of his intention to visit his father after they got back from training.
“We had just returned from football training and were waiting to watch the English Premier League together when Kaka said he wanted to go and see his dad,” he said.
Aramide added that he asked the late footballer to help him buy beans on his way before he left with his teammate, Sanni Abubakar.
However, he said he received a distressing call moments after their departure.
“Just a few minutes after they left, Sanni called me and said Kaka had been killed by SARS. I couldn’t believe it. That was how everything changed,” he said.
He stated that the incident happened along the Sagamu–Abeokuta Expressway in Ogun State, where Kazeem was allegedly arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
“The next thing I heard, he was gone,” Aramide added.
Describing the late player, Aramide said Kazeem was not a criminal but a promising footballer and a leader.
“He was a footballer, a leader, and a young man with a future. He didn’t die — he was killed,” he said.
Kazeem’s death sparked outrage at the time, with renewed calls for reforms and accountability over the activities of SARS operatives.
