Group Accuses Ajeromi-Ifelodun Chairmanship Candidate of Age Falsification, Certificate Forgery

Olayiwola Matthew

A political advocacy group, Ajeromi-Ifelodun Progressive Associates, has accused the chairmanship candidate of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, Mr. Akindipe Olalekan Olu, of multiple acts of falsification, including discrepancies in age, indigeneship claims, and certificate forgery.

In a statement signed by the group’s convener, Mr. Olatunji Oluwa, the group alleged that Mr. Akindipe presented conflicting information in official documents submitted to different authorities. According to the group, Mr. Akindipe claimed Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Lagos State, as his place of origin in his Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) nomination form. However, in the nomination form submitted to the All Progressives Congress (APC), he allegedly indicated Badagry, Lagos State, as his origin. Further discrepancies reportedly emerged from his national biometric records and international passport, where Ode Remo, Ogun State, was listed.

“These inconsistencies amount to impersonation, false declaration, and perjury. Lying under oath makes him unfit to hold public office,” the statement read.

The group also accused the candidate of altering his West African Examinations Council (WAEC) certificate. According to them, the certificate submitted to the Commission had a superimposed passport photograph, unlike the original, which had none. They allege this manipulation was done to conceal the identity of the actual person who sat for the examination.

“A check through the WAEC verification portal will reveal the truth. If he produces the original certificate and compares it with the WAEC-issued version, the fraud behind the forgery will be exposed,” the group stated.

The Ajeromi-Ifelodun Progressive Associates have called on the leadership of the APC to immediately launch an investigation into the allegations before the scheduled local government elections on Saturday.
