The first monarch to occupy the newly approved traditional stool of Ayesan in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State has been installed.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has presented the instrument of appointment and staff of office to Oba Adebayo Bashiru Takuro as the first Olusan of Ayesan in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The installation took place on Saturday after the state government approved and recognised the Olusan of Ayesan kingship stool, placing same on Grade C Obaship status.
At the presentation of the instrument of appointment and staff of office to the monarch in Ayesan, Governor Aiyedatiwa, who was represented by his deputy, Dr. Olayide Adelami, charged charged Oba Takuro to deploy his powers in the service of the people of his community.
A statement by John Paul Akinduro, Press Secretary to Ondo State Governor, (Office of the Deputy Governor), stated that Governor Aiyedatiwa said: “Let me use this opportunity to remind Kabiyesi that your recognition and elevation is a divine call to deepen your service to your people.
“You must continue to exercise restraints and caution in the use of the traditional authority and powers. This instrument, which you are being presented today, should be deployed to strengthen the peace and cohesion of your domain and that of the state in general.
“Refrain from any form of expansionist hegemony by installing or appointing minor chiefs beyond their authorised jurisdictions, especially in disputed areas.”
In his address, Oba Takuro appreciated the Aiyedatiwa administration for its benevolence that led to his accession to the throne.
He assured the government of his commitment to sustaining peace at the grassroots in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, and engender programmes that promote the culture of the people of the community.
The state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, told the people of the community the Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa-led administration is committed to bringing development to the grassroots, urging them to give the administration full cooperation in maintaining law and order.
He assured that the government is positioned to accelerate development across the 18 local government areas of state, calling on the people to vote for All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 16 governorship election in the state.
