Feet ‘N’ Tricks and the World Freestyle Football Association Present: Freestyle Connect Africa 2.0 in Algiers!

Algiers, Algeria – 17th October, 2024 – Africa’s biggest freestyle football event is back! After the successful first edition in Cairo at the Inter-Africa Trade Fair, Freestyle Connect Africa returns with a second edition, hosted as part of the Creative Africa Nexus (CANEX) in Algeria. This highly anticipated championship promises to showcase the incredible talents of Africa’s best football freestylers.

Taking place at the Algerian Society of Fairs and Exports (SAFEX) in the heart of Algiers, the competition will be on Friday, October 18th, 2024, at 5:30 PM. The Freestyle Connect Africa 2.0 is set to be an extraordinary showcase of skill, creativity, and athleticism, featuring 24 of Africa’s top freestyle football athletes:

16 male and 8 female athletes…all battling for the ultimate continental bragging rights and a share of the over $20,000 cash prize pool, along with a host of non-cash prizes.

The event is proudly sponsored by AFREXIMBANK and powered by CANEX, reinforcing the commitment of both organizations to elevate African creativity and talent to the global stage.

Special Guests and Speakers

We are anticipating to have with us, Mr. Abderrahmane Hammad, the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports of Algeria, Mr. John Owan Enoh, the Honourable Minister of Sports Development in Nigeria and Hon Hannatu Musa Musawa, the Nigeria’s Minister of Art, Culture and Creative Economy to grace this event, alongside other dignitaries from across the continent.

Before the competition begins, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, the chief host of this event, will be in a high-level panel discussion on “Beyond the Scoreboard: Can Global Partnerships provide Opportunities in the Sports Ecosystem?” This session will bring together thought leaders, corporate stakeholders, and government officials to explore ways of strengthening collaboration for the growth of sports in Africa. Mr. Ozigbo will be in this panel alongside Amadou Gallo Fall, President, Basketball Africa League (Senegal) as keynote speaker, Thato Moeng, Sports Broadcaster, SuperSport International (South Africa) as Moderator, Anne-Marie N’Guessan, Presenter & Journalist, RTI SPORTS (Côte d’Ivoire), Mostepha Ali Hassan, Director General Sports, Ministry of Youth and Sports (Algeria), Natalie Barlow, Head of Africa, Schächter Sport; UEFA Qualified Football Manager (South Africa), Kyle Schofield, Co-founder & Managing Director, QA Venue Solutions (Rwanda) and Temwa Gondwe, Senior Manager, Intra-African Trade Initiative, African Export-Import Bank.

Valentine Ozigbo, who is the Chairman of Feet ’N’ Tricks and a Director in the World Freestyle Football Association expressed his excitement for the upcoming event: “Freestyle football has a unique way of bringing people together, and this year’s Freestyle Connect Africa will take that spirit of unity to the next level. We’re proud to be partnering with CANEX and AFREXIMBANK to showcase African creativity and athleticism on a grand scale.”

This year’s event will also feature musical and side performances from Algerian star DJ R-One. The Masters of Ceremony will be Guerero (Nigeria) and Malia Zergui (Algeria) to feed needs of our English, French and Arabic speaking audience.

We have selected freestyle football legends as judges for this year, including Yorok Youssef Ayman, Egyptian multi champion and twice, a runner-up for the African championship, Iya Traore, ex football player with Paris Saint Germain junior, 3 Guiness World Record holder from Guinea and Mr. Ashley Mkhize, a legendary freestyle footballer and former South African champion.
