A former Minister of State(Transport) Prince Ademola Adegoroye has commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for flagging off the construction and dualization of Akure-Idanre Road.
Adegoroye also on Thursday congratulated the people of the state, particularly residents of Akure and Idanre on the project.
He said the commencement of the Akure-Idanre Road dualization and the promise by the governor that all ongoing projects would be completed confirmed his position against the insinuation that the state capital was deliberately abandoned by successive administrations in the state.
He said the first 14 months of the governor in office was filled with political controversies, but expressed confidence in his ability to turn the state around after his swearing-in ceremony.
The ex-minister assured the governor would explore the agricultural and tourism potentials of the state for speedy infrastructure facilities and socio-economic developments.
Adegoroye said: “At the beginning of his regime in February, I assured the people that his taking over power suddenly and shockingly at the unexpected demise of our immediate past leader and Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, and the political controversies just before and immediately after slowed down the activities of government.
“Now, he has settled down and he can fly. I have noted his priorities in agricultural development and tourism with his frequent visit to Araromi seaside, which when developed fully, will be the destination of choice for tourists from all over the world.
“It will provide a unique experience for everyone.
“May I add that the ongoing works such as the Akure-Oda Road, the flyover at Shagari village junction, the Ijoka Road dualization project, which experienced some delays, must be completed in good time, and other such projects in other parts of the state.
“My joy is that within a very short time, Aiyedatiwa has started to banish the thoughts of our people in Akure of the deliberately abandonment of the State capital by successive administrations in the state.
“We appreciate Mr Governor for all of these.
“The governor also doing all that is necessary to break down whatever bottlenecks that maybe threatening the immediate development of the Araromi Seaport which by God’s grace i, alongside the Akeredolu/Aiyedatiwa government, was able to get for the Ondo State state Government approved by the Federal Executive Council in 2023.
“I can assure the people of Ondo State that that project alone, when concluded, has the capacity of turning around the economy of Ondo State and its people and bring unprecedented prosperity to tbe riverine people of f our dear state.”
