Electorates, Bane of Political Woes Of Nigeria – Onuesoke

Chris Awhawha

Frontline member of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Delta State, Chief Sunny Onuesoke has cautioned the electorates on the need to refrain from putting pressure on elected representatives and politicians for handouts but instead, seek for quality representation and delivery of sustainable development while at their various political offices.

He warned that this attitude is capable of turning a focused and corrupt-free representative into a corrupt-minded person owing to the deluge of monetary demands from constituents, friends and family alike.

Onuesoke, a committed member of the PDP and environmental expert warned that, “Nigeria, nay the people will continue to experience corruption of higher magnitude in our democratic space if they don’t desist from such attitudes.

He stated this while addressing the management of Helpful Hands Orphanage Home, lef by its Proprietress, Mrs. Ardelene Akpomiemie
who were on a ‘Thank You Visit’ to the Onuesoke Foundation in Warri, Delta State on Saturday 28 September, 2024.

According to Onuesoke, “Fighting corruption in the democratic space and the society in general requires the support of all, especially the electorates. Elected and appointed representatives are expected to make huge financial contributions at virtually every event, even at mundane occasions and when the representative fails to meet with their expectations, he gets a negative tag. Who does that,” he queried?

“Let us pursue the delivering quality and sustainable developmental programs that have the capacity of creating growth, employment opportunities and many more, to the masses than, sharing handouts, food items in token quantities that are short-term in nature.

“We are a nation of strong-willed people who have what it takes to change the bad narratives of today and retool our poor situation for a better tomorrow. I am therefore, calling on the youths to stop expecting ‘dash-outs’ from the political class on the streets.

“Nigerians deserve a better nation and a better class of leaders who can effectively turn around the economic woes of the country for a lasting socio-economic and developmental growth”.

Speaking earlier, Proprietress of the Helpful Hands Orphanage Home, Mrs. Ardelene Akpomiemie noted that the purpose of visiting the Onuesoke Foundation was to appreciate the Chief Executive Director and members of the management of the Onuesoke Foundation for showing unquantified love to the less privileged people in the society and giving them hope for a better tomorrow.

She called on well to do persons in the society to extend a hand of love to the people in their various communities as there’s so much hunger and deprivation amongst the people.

“The management of the Onuesoke Foundation should be commended and emulated for all of the good deeds it has been doing over the years as they have touched the lives of many families especially youths in the society.” She said.
