EKSU VC Vows To Fight Gender-based Violence, Other Crimes

In a move to ensure peaceful coexistence among residents of the university community, the Vice Chancellor, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Professor Babatola Ayodele has vowed to fight to a standstill all forms of gender-based violence and other forms of crimes on the campus.

He declared that gender-based violence including sexual harassment, intimidation and other forms of crime would not be tolerated in the varsity by his administration.

This was contained in a statement by the varsity’s the Deputy Registrar/Head, Directorate of Information & Corporate Affairs, Bode Olofinmuagun, made available to newsmen on Friday.

According to the statement, the Vice Chancellor also said he’s poised to get rid of the bad eggs in the varsity.

Assuring the leadership of EKSU Alumni Association, led by the Global President, Engr. Dipo Bamisaye which visited him in his office, Prof. Ayodele declared that no act of Indiscipline would be tolerated by his administration.

Therefore, the Vice Chancellor appreciated the Alumni Association of the institution for its various interventions in the varsity.

He, however, solicited for more support from the association, urging them to site more projects that would benefit members of the university community.

Also Prof. Ayodele also appreciated the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele as well as the varsity’s Visitor, Governor, Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji for “their unwavering commitments to ensure the infrastructural development of Ekiti State University.’

Earlier, the Global Alumni President, Engr. Dipo Bamisaye, congratulated the Vice Chancellor on his appointment and described him as “a complete gentleman whose academic achievements stood him out.”

However, Engr. Bamisaye condemned the recent allegation of sexual harassment against a Professor in the institution, urging the Vice Chancellor to nip all forms of crimes in the bud with a view to protecting the good image of the varsity.

He, therefore, promised that the Alumni Association would continue to support the university through different interventions.
