The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 17, Akure, AIG Ajani Omolabi has assured the people of Ondo and Ekiti states of adequate security during and after the Easter celebrations.

This was contained in his congratulatory message to the people of the two states on Friday.

In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer for the zone, Desmond Sosanya, an Assistant Superintendent of Police(ASP), the AIG disclosed that he has deployed personnel to worship centres, recreation centres and intensified vehicular and foot patrols in both states.

The statement reads inter alia: “As part of proactive measures to ensure safe, peaceful, and hitch-free Easter celebrations, the AIG has directed massive deployment of Police personnel to strategic locations, including recreational centres, worship venues, highways, and other public spaces so as to enhance visibility policing with foot and vehicular patrols as well as intensified surveillance activities to prevent, and detect crime for public safety.

“Residents are, therefore, advised to remain law-abiding, be security-conscious, and avoid unauthorized processions or gatherings that may lead to breaches of peace.

“AIG Ajani assures all residents of his commitment to ensure the protection of lives and property during and after the Easter period and wishes all residents joyous and incident-free Easter celebrations.”
