In her desire to ensure some indigent families and widows enjoy the Christmas and New Year seasons, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Dorian Home, Dr. Tolulola Bayode, on Saturday distributed 1000 bags of rice to widows and vulnerable individuals in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
She also gave out cash gifts to some people to take care of their immediate and long-term needs.
Dr. Bayode, who periodically carries out empowerment programme by giving out cash, motorbikes and other working tools to indigent people, explained that the gifts are meant to address the immediate and long-term needs of the beneficiaries.
No fewer than 100 persons also received free medical attentions and were given consumables.
Dr. Bayode stated that the medical outreach because necessary because of the high cost of accessing medical services, adding that a lot of people vulnerable people could not afford medical bills in both public and private medical facilities.
During the medical outreach, the beneficiaries were tested for blood sugar and high blood pressure, among others.
Dr. Bayode, who personally supervised the distribution of the items and cash, disclosed that the initiative was borne out of her unwavering desire to bring relief to the indigent families battling with the effects of the current economic hardship.
She explained that the intervention was deliberately fixed for the season with a view to ensuring families could partake in the joy of the Yuletide season.
Dr. Bayode said: “There is no doubt that the current economic situation is extremely challenging.
“People are struggling daily to make ends meet, and many families can barely afford basic necessities.
“To ease this burden, we decided to distribute 1,000 bags of rice to widows and other underprivileged members of society.
“But we didn’t stop there, we also added cash gifts to the packages to ensure that our support is holistic and impactful.
“This way, the beneficiaries can celebrate the festive season with dignity and joy, even in these difficult times.”
It would be recalled that Dr. Bayode initiated and funded different projects to better the lot of orphans, widows and underprivileged persons.
She was described by the beneficiaries as a symbol of hope and inspiration in a society facing numerous challenges.
The excited beneficiaries at the event expressed their gratitude, praying for her for her kindness.
Many of them described the gesture as a lifeline, which would go a long way in easing their struggles and restoring their faith in humanity.
