Bandits Have Released Remaining Kaduna worshippers – Village Head

Bandits have reportedly released the remaining worshippers who were abducted during a brutal attack on churches in the Kurmin Wali community, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The attack, which took place on Sunday, saw armed men invade three churches during worship services, firing sporadically to instill fear before abducting the worshippers and leading them into the surrounding forests.

It was initially reported that at least 177 worshippers were kidnapped during the coordinated assault, although about 80 managed to escape and sought refuge in neighboring villages.

According to report, Ishaku Dan’azumi, the village head of Kurmin Wali, confirmed the release of the remaining abducted worshippers.

He said, “I got the information of their release this morning. They are currently with the government in Kaduna,” though he added that he did not have further details at the time.

When asked whether any ransom or motorcycles, which were allegedly demanded by the bandits, had been provided for their release, Dan’azumi said he could not confirm the reports.

He mentioned that he was planning to travel to Kaduna to meet the victims and gather more information.

Rev. Ma’aji Caleb, chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kaduna State, also confirmed the release, expressing relief. “Glory be to God, my people are out. We hope to connect with them today. This was through our prayers and the efforts of the government.”

Rev. Caleb, however, denied involvement in any negotiations, stating that the most important thing was that the worshippers had regained their freedom.

He also expressed gratitude towards the Kaduna State Government, specifically Governor Uba Sani, for his efforts in securing the release of the worshippers.
