…To Steer the State Affairs with seven-member Caretaker Committee
The Freelance and Independent Broadcasters’ Association of Nigeria (FIBAN), Ogun State chapter, has appointed Honourable (Chief) Olalekan Alex Shoyinka, popularly known as Ayinla Egba, as its new Chairman.
His emergence followed resolutions reached at the state congress of the association held at the weekend, a decision later ratified by the National Congress of FIBAN in Ibadan on Sunday, January 18, 2026, giving full constitutional backing to the new leadership.
The ratification took place in the presence of key national stakeholders, including members of the outgoing National Working Committee led by Comrade Taiwo Adebayo-Gold and other respected leaders of the association such as Mogaji Kola Olootu, Prophet Niyi Akinboade (Ologbojo), Comrade Ben Uwabor, Alhaji Gbenga Adebayo-Oladunni (Imalian Boy), Comrade Desmond Nwachukwu and Comrade Seun Awodele, among others.
Following his appointment, Ayinla Egba is to steer the affairs of Ogun FIBAN through a seven-member Caretaker Committee constituted to stabilise, reform and reposition the association in line with national best practices.
Other members of the committee are Comrade Olusoji Idowu Soewu (Isele Nla), Comrade Bolanle Oluwatoyin Asakpa, Comrade Olusoji Akindiya (Okanlomo), Comrade Remilekun Elegbede and Comrade Moses Okunlola, who will serve as Secretary.
The association said Ayinla Egba was unanimously selected in view of his wealth of experience and proven leadership capacity, having previously served with distinction as Publicity Secretary and General Secretary of Ogun FIBAN.
In his acceptance speech, the new chairman expressed gratitude to the national leadership, elders and members of the association for the confidence reposed in him and the committee.
“This assignment cannot be accomplished by the Caretaker Committee alone. It requires the support, cooperation and active participation of all members. As our elders say, a heavy burden cannot be carried alone,” he said.
He assured members that the committee would discharge its mandate with integrity, transparency and commitment, adding that it was determined to restore professionalism, unity and public confidence in Ogun FIBAN.
The leadership of the association has therefore urged members to rally round the new committee to build a stronger, more credible and united FIBAN in Ogun State.
