The Bayelsa State High Court sitting in Onopa, on Monday, September 30, 2024 has sentenced one Mr. Daniel Amaso to life imprisonment for raping a 17-year old predregree student of Niger Delta University in Amassoma.
It was gathered during the court proceedings that Mr. Amaso went into the 17-year old girl’s residence in Amassoma Community with a knife, threatened and raped her, as well as robbed her of her phone while she was studying for her exams.
Appearing before Hon. Justice Christine Kombo-Enegesi of the Amassoma/ Oporoma High Court sitting in Onopa, Yenagoa in the charge number: OHC/3C/2022 between State V Daniel Amaso, the convict, Mr. Amaso was charged for a case of rape, armed robbery and grievous harm.
The convict, Mr. Amaso was consequently found guilty on the three (3) counts and sentenced to life imprisonment for the offences of rape and armed robbery, count 1 and 2 respectively and 7 years for the offence of grievous harm, count 3.
