Deji Calls For Unity Among Akure-speaking Communities For Development

The Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi has called on all sons and daughters of Akure-speaking communities to embrace unity and cooperation for speedy development and transformation.

The monarch also noted that the effects of the violent political criais that occurred in the metropolis in 1983 when lives and property were lost are still being felt.

Oba Aladelusi stated this on Friday night at his palace in Akure during the Akure Global Day of Prayer 2024 with the theme:: ‘Moving Higher.’

The monarch, who called for unity and oneness among the indigenes of the town, said that the capital city of the Sunshine State was experiencing peace because of incessant prayers from religious adherents.

“It is a day of joy. We decided to fix this day to pray against reoccurrence of the 1983 political crisis. The effects of that year are still with us.

“ Akure might have been better than this if there was no such occurrence.

“I believe in prayer and that is why we have the existing peace.

“I want all of you to forgive one another and do not take law into your hand. You can seek redress in court if felt not satisfied,” he said.

He asked all Akure-speaking communities to be one and united so that there would be adequate development and transformation in the areas.

Oba Aladelusi asked Akure indigenes to be patient and wait for God’s time for the turn of the town to produce governor in the state.

According to him, his priority and passion is for Akure indigenes to progress and be in places of authorities.

Earlier, the presiding pastor, Pastor Peter Olaniyan, said that what happened in 1983 was terrible and should not repeat itself, hence the need for the prayer.

Olaniyan , who read from the Book of Matthew Chapter 5 verses 14 to verse 16, said that light is needed for one to move higher.

He stated that living in light would bring vision and desires transformation.

Also in attendance is Olu of Ilu-Abo, Oba Olu Falae, Oba Victor Adetona, the Owa of Ogbagi Akoko, Mr Gbenga Fasua , the Chairman of Akure South Local Government.
