30DaysChallenge: Peller Tells Nigerians To Go Rant In Oshodi Market

Deborah Akinyosoye

Tiktok streamer and influencer, Peller, has told Nigerians to go and rant in Oshodi market, following the 30-day rant challenge, a viral trend on TikTok.

In a much recent live stream, he strongly opposed the challenge, arguing that the platform should remain a space for entertainment rather than negativity and rants.

His comments, which have since gone viral, read: “Don’t rant on TikTok. Don’t rant here oh. You are wicked. You want to ruin our source of livelihood… If you want to rant, go to Oshodi market, carry machete, dagger and rant. Leave TikTok alone for us to keep enjoying ourselves. Don’t you like my progress?”

This came after a NYSC corps member used her handle on Tiktok to start a 30-day-rant-challenge, where she called out Tinubu government for accountability and Nigerians welfarism, noting that Nigerians are struggling to afford basic necessities because of the constant inflation in the country.

Peller’s remarks have sparked debate across social media platforms, drawing mixed reactions from both his followers and other netizens. While some supported his position, arguing that social media should remain a space for relaxation and entertainment, others criticised him for dismissing those who use the platform to voice their frustrations.

A user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “Peller has a point. TikTok should not become a hub for negativity.” However, another countered, “So we should go and rant in Oshodi market with machetes? That statement was unnecessary.”

TG Omori, a celebrity music video director noted: “Peller is just a boy.” Still another said: “Getting famous without education is the reason we have Peller and Portable as celebrities.”

An X user commented: “Who made the Peller and Jarvis popular? Is it not you guys? Lmaooo! Making morons popular for no darn reason.”

As discussions around the role of social media in shaping public discourse continue, Peller has yet to issue any further statements in response to the backlash.
