In his resolve to beef up security in all nooks and crannies of Abuja, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, has injected 50 operational vehicles into security agencies in the territory.

The vehicles which are fitted with communication gadgets were distributed to different security agencies in the FCT to intensify the fight against insecurity.
Handing over the vehicles to the security agencies on Friday, Wike said he allotted the vehicles as follows: FCT Police Command, 24 vehicles, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, 8 vehicles, Advance Party/Security Monitoring, FCT Administration, 6 vehicles, Department of State Services: 5 vehicles, Guard Brigade of the Nigerian Army, 3 vehicles, Nigeria Air Force, 005 Abuja, 1 vehicle, Naval Unit, 1 vehicle, Nigerian Immigration Service, 1 vehicle, and National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency 1 vehicle.
Addressing the agencies, Wike stated: “We are no longer talking about infrastructure; we are no longer talking about taking development to the Area Councils; we are now talking about a key factor, a key agenda in the renewed hope mantra, and that has to do with security.”
The Minister emphasised that security of lives and properties remains one of the critical priorities of President Bola Tinubu.
He said: “For us as a government, it is not the responsibility of Mr President to go and identify where the criminals are; it is not my responsibility or the minister of state’s responsibility to go and engage criminals. It is our responsibility to provide the tools for the security agencies to confront these criminals and make sure we sleep with our two eyes closed.”
The minister, therefore, charged residents of the FCT to support the security agencies by supplying information on time to combat crimes in the city.
In his address, the Director of the Security Services Department, Mr. Adamu Gwary, noted that the operational vehicles would enhance the capacity of security agencies to fight crime, respond promptly to distress situations, and address the security challenges confronting the territory.
Represented by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Kayode Ojakinwa, the Commissioner of Police Benneth Igweh on behalf of rhe Security agencies appreciated the Minister for the gesture.
