Tiwa Savage Launches Music Foundation, Partners With Berkley

Award-winning Afrobeats star, Tiwatope Savage, popularly known as Tiwa Savage has launched the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation, a new initiative aimed at discovering and developing the next generation of African music talent.

Announced on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, in Lagos, the foundation is designed to widen access to structured, world-class music education across the continent.

Savage said the goal is to support and spotlight performers careers that exist behind the scenes in the music industry.

The foundation’s flagship project is a partnership with Berklee College of Music, one of the world’s leading contemporary music institutions. The collaboration will bring a four-day intensive programme to Nigeria in April.

Tagged Berklee in Nigeria: Tiwa Savage Intensive Music Programme, the initiative will hold from April 23 to 26, 2026. It will train 100 selected participants in live performance, songwriting, music production and the business side of music. Sessions will run daily from 10 am to 5 pm.

Applications are open until March 20, 2026, and the programme is tuition-free. However, successful applicants will cover their travel and accommodation in Lagos. Admission is highly selective.

Savage, a Berklee alumna said the foundation reflects her personal journey from student to global star.

“I wanted to build something that opens people’s eyes to the full scope of what’s possible in music,” she said. “The person who composes the score for a film, creates music for global campaigns or uses music as a tool for healing, these are meaningful, sustainable careers that don’t always exist in the spotlight.”

She added that at this stage of her career, giving back feels necessary. “I’m incredibly grateful for everything music has given me. This foundation is my way of creating real opportunity for others. This day has been years in the making.”

The new programme aims to bridge that gap by connecting Africa’s thriving music economy with global education systems. Participants will receive hands-on training tailored to their current skill level, with a focus on strengthening their technical, creative and commercial abilities.

Berklee President, Jim Lucchese described the collaboration as historic. He noted that the intensive will mark the institution’s first “Berklee on the Road” programme in Nigeria.

According to him, the partnership increases access to Berklee’s curriculum globally through the support of one of its most accomplished alumni. He expressed optimism about the artistry and creativity that would emerge from the workshops.

The four-day programme will end with a live showcase where participants will present original work blending global music styles with West African traditions.

A closing ceremony will follow, including the presentation of scholarship awards. Select participants will receive guidance on advancing their careers through Berklee’s in-person and online programmes.
