Nigeria’s Ambassador to Germany and former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has delivered a scathing rebuke to Dele Momodu, describing his recent criticism of President Bola Tinubu as “drained, tired, and broken” and exhibiting a “degenerating and worrisome level of cognitive dissonance”.
In a strongly-worded statement he posted on Facebook on Monday, Fani-Kayode expressed disappointment with Momodu’s comparison of President Tinubu to General Sani Abacha, labeling it as “uncharitable and disrespectful”.
Fani-Kayode attributed Momodu’s remarks to exhaustion, advising him to take a break from politics and “overhaul his intellectual engine”. He defended the President, Vice President, Ministers, Senators, and newly-appointed Ambassadors, saying many have more experience in governance than Momodu.
“My brother Dele sounded drained, tired, and broken, and spoke little sense yesterday in his interview with Seun Okinbaloye of Channels TV,” Fani-Kayode said.
The APC stalwart also took a jibe at the Abia State-based ADC, Momodu’s party, describing it as a “badly patched up inflatable plastic life boat” lacking direction, leadership, and strength.
“The ADC cannot even be described as a sinking ship, it has no engine, no sails, no oars, no captain, no crew, no navigational equipment, no muscle, no firepower, no war chest, no destination”, Fani-Kayode quipped.
He questioned how such a party could possibly challenge the ruling APC in the 2027 elections.
Fani-Kayode urged the ADC to focus on rebuilding and preparing for the 2027 elections rather than criticizing the ruling party.
He attributed the ADC’s struggles to its own shortcomings, saying Nigerians are flocking to the APC due to its strong leadership and vision.
“The fact that political leaders and the Nigerian people are flocking to APC in droves is not only because our President and Vice President are doing well, but also because they view the ADC as nothing but a collection of disingenuous, desperate, and recycled political losers, who are addicted to power, who offer no credible alternative to governance”, he said.
Fani-Kayode ended with a personal appeal to Momodu, urging him to leave the ADC, which he described as a “sea of ugly, cruel, loud, angry, starving, cackling, and relentless crows and vultures”, saying Momodu is “far too good for the company” he’s keeping.
He likened Momodu’s presence in the ADC to “a gentle, beautiful, well-bred, well-fed, and well-manicured flamingo trapped in a sea of ugly, cruel, loud, angry, starving, cackling, and relentless crows and vultures”.
Fani-Kayode concluded by saying President Tinubu “started well, is doing well, and will, by the grace of God, end well with no regrets in 2031.”
