The SCOUT Association of Nigeria has elected the new set of leaders to manage the affairs of the organisation.
Olori Omoba Olusoga Sofolahan (South West, Ondo) was elected as Chief Scout of Nigeria at an extraordinary General Meeting of association to mark a significant milestone in Nigerian Scouting.
Other members of the new team include Deputy Chief Scout of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Christopher Awubra (North East, Taraba), Chief Commissioner: Umar Muhammad (North West, Zamfara), Hon. National Secretary, Engr. Dr. Obinna Anyaoha (South East, Enugu) and Hon. Treasurer, Arinola Juliana Akinyemi (North Central, Abuja).
Olori Omoba Sofolahan by this assignment have become the Head of The Scout Association of Nigeria (Old name Boy Scout Association of Nigeria) at the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In his acceptance speech, Sofolahan said: “Having done exactly 50 years in Scouting this year, my journey started in Scouting in 1974 under the leadership of Pa. J. O. Ojo from Irun-Akoko (of blessed memories) at Local Authority Primary School, Ilepa, Ikare-Akoko.
“l progressed to be the Troop Leader of the 1st Akoko Troop Victory College, Ikare-Akoko in 1981 through to 1983 under the leadership of Okhale Momodu (aka Kalimoh) of blessed memories.
“I want to appreciate God Almighty for this opportunity and with deep respect for tradition and an eye on the future, the new leadership is set to take charge and steer Scouting Nigeria towards renewed excellence
“Leadership is not just a title; it’s a call to service. As we embark on this journey, may we lead with integrity, unity, and the spirit of Scouting, ensuring the values of discipline, service, and leadership shine through every decision.
“It is my belief that under my leadership, Scouting in Nigeria will thrive, becoming a beacon of hope, discipline, and service once again.”
