Six persons have been reportedly killed as two cult groups clashed in Ondo town, Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The six people who were shot dead are yet to be identified.
Sources revealed that that the casualties of the clash were members of Eye confraternity and another unidentified cult group.
It was further disclosed that one of the casualties was shot on Monday at FFF junction, Oka area of Ondo city, while another three were gun down at Ife Garage on Tuesday.
Another were said to have been shot at Sabo area of the city.
Further investigation revealed that all the armed cultists were in full mask.
The Police Public Relations Officer for the state Police Command, Mr. Olayinka Ayanlade, who confirmed the incident, described the casualties as notorious cult members who had been on the state l police command’s wanted list.
He said: “The command can confirm the murder of four people and five injured, all of who belong to one cult group or the other.
“I want to appeal to members of the community to go about their lawful businesses without fear or panic. Security agencies are on ground to protect lives and property.”
The police command’s image-maker also confirmed that the police raided the New Garage, Ayeyemi areas in Ondo following the cult clash.
He explained that “Desperate times require desperate actions. Anyone arrested during the raid has one or two things to do with the clash.
“Our men have acted rightly, and if any of them are found to have acted wrongly, they will face disciplinary action. But if they have done the right thing, people should commend them.”
