As means of enhancing effective governance and sustainable development, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central has advocated synergy between the Senate and Ministries, Departments and Agencies(MDAs).

She made the call at the ongoing three-day retreat for the Senate Committee on Local Content in Abuja on Tuesday.
The retreat with the theme: “Creating Synergy for Sustainable Local Content Development,” targeted at fostering collaborative approach to governance and promote effective local content development in Nigeria.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan said: “Lack of collaboration among government agencies has led to poor output, and it’s imperative that we work together to drive sustainable local content development.
“Synergy between lawmakers and government agencies will translate to the greater good of Nigerians and increase productivity.”
Moreover, she emphasised on the importance of transparency in the operations of government agencies for them to diligently and effectively carry out their oversight function.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan alluded to the committee’s letters to NCDMB and Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) inquiring about the amount of money in the Nigerian Capital Development Fund (NCDF) which were not addressed.
She revealed that during an interface between the committee and the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG), $43 million in human capacity development linked to the $4.451 billion Train-7 project was revealed.
Similar interface between the committee and Brentex CPP and Oilserv, overseeing the $2.8 billion Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline project, uncovered $25 million worth of human capacity developmment.
