The ongoing political crisis rocking Rivers State has worsened on Monday as eight local government Secretariat were attacked and three razed by hoodlums in aftermath of the council polls held on Saturday.
It was also reported that about five persons feared killed in the crisis.
The hoodlums razed tje Secretariat of Eleme, Ikwerre and Emohua local governments.
Other local governments seriously attacked by armed persons, shooting sporadically, include Obio/Akpor, Ahoada East, Khana, Etche, Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni and Oyigbo.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara had alleged that some persons believed to be supporters of Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike were plotting to attack local councils Secretariat.
Fubara sworn in the 23 newly elected Local Government chairmen who emerged winners at the Saturday local council polls in the state.
Violence erupted in the local councils shortly after policemen who were on guard since the local council Secretariat were sealed, left the councils for the newly elected chairmen to assume office.
There’s no peace in sight as the political crisis continues in the state between supporters of the sitting governor and that of the immediate past governor of the state.
