Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has accused top Afrobeats stars Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, and Olamide of hindering the rise of younger musicians in the industry.
In a video shared on his social media page, the Zazu crooner claimed that the quartet has dominated the Nigerian music scene for over a decade, making it difficult for upcoming artists to gain recognition.
Portable also criticised the stars for allegedly exaggerating the prices of their jewelry and flaunting wealth, putting undue pressure on emerging talents.
“Wizkid, Olamide, Davido, and Burna Boy have been at the top for over 10 years and are blocking the way for other artistes to come up. They also lie a lot, they can say they bought a chain for 1 billion dollars, whereas it might have been given to them for free,” he said.
He urged his colleagues to stop creating unnecessary pressure for young musicians through constant displays of wealth and vowed to continue speaking out if the situation does not change.
