Ondo State Police Command has organised a 3-Day workshop on Basic Intelligence course for officers in the state.
A statement by the Spokesman for the state Police Command, Ayanlade Olusola disclosed that the workshop would commence on Thursday, May1, 2025.
The statement reads: “Intelligence gathering remains the cornerstone of effective policing, serving as the foundation upon which operational efficiency and successful law enforcement activities are built. In an increasingly complex security environment, timely and accurate intelligence has proven indispensable in preventing crime, maintaining public order, and enhancing community trust.
“However, despite its critical importance, significant gaps have been observed in intelligence gathering across security agencies.
“Challenges such as ineffective management of informants, breaches of confidentiality, and erosion of trust between law enforcement officers and the civilian population have continued to hinder intelligence operations.
“These shortcomings have contributed to the occurrence of numerous preventable crimes, including kidnapping for ransom, murder, arson, cultism, and other forms of violent criminality.
“Recognizing these challenges, the Nigeria Police Force, Ondo State Command under the leadership of Commissioner of Police CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi psc+, mnips, has organized this Basic Intelligence Course.
“The aim is to equip officers with the essential skills needed to effectively gather, process, and utilize intelligence, maintain informant relationships, and uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism.
“Through this training, participants will be better positioned to bridge the existing gaps, rebuild public trust, and enhance the overall security architecture of our communities.”
