Operatives of the Monitoring Unit of Ondo State Police Command has successfully busted an armed robbery syndicate in Laosu in Ondo East Local Government Area of Ondo State.
According to the state Police Commissioner, Adebowale Lawal, the suspects were arrested following a petition that the gang had been terrorizing the residents of the community.
A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), “A petition was received from Wole Akindiose & Co Chambers, Akure, on behalf of farmers operating at Compartment 14A02, Kabiyesi Camp, Laosu axis, alleging cases of armed robbery, forcible entry, and illegal possession of firearms, perpetrated by one Dotun Olatunji, popularly known as Ajekurin, and others suspected to be part of a coordinated criminal syndicate.
“Acting swiftly on the petition, operatives from the Monitoring Unit, under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, moved to the location on July 19, 2025.
“The operation led to the arrest of Dotun Olatunji and five other suspects, including Olatunji Folajimi ‘m’, Akinlolu Dotun ‘m’, Lucky Michael ‘m’, Mohammed Tairu ‘m’, and Ali Salisu ‘m’.”

Among these are one Jojeff pump-action gun with breech No. 17247 and sixteen live cartridges, one locally made barrel gun, one short battle axe, one unregistered blue-colour motorcycle, seven cutlasses, two head-torch lights, three sharpening files and one ice-smoking bottle (commonly linked to illicit drug use).
The Commissioner of Police said: “This successful operation is a direct reflection of the Command’s commitment to the vision and mission of the Inspector-General of Police IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun Ph.D NPM, which promotes a people-centered policing system that is accountable, transparent, professional, and compliant with the rule of law.”
He said the Command would continue to key into this vision by adopting intelligence-led strategies and ensuring that criminal syndicates and threats to public safety are identified, investigated, and prosecuted accordingly.
He, however, said investigation into the matter is ongoing, and further developments would be communicated in due course.
Assuring the people of the state, the Police Commissioner said the Police Command is committed to protecting lives and property and would continue to collaborate with communities and other security agencies to ensure a safer and more secure environment for all.
