In commemoration of year 2025 World Menstrual Hygiene day, Ondo State Ministry of Health distributed about 1000 sanitary pads to secondary school students in some selected secondary schools in the state.
Speaking at the programme, which held at the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives Hall, Igbatoro Road, Akure, on Wednesday, the Director Family Health. Dr. Isaac Aladeniyi, noted that the programme would afford the young girls the opportunity to know how best to care for themselves during their menstrual period and where to get help if need be.
He emphasised on the importance of teaching the young girls in how to take care of themselves, particularly during their mensural period to avoid contracting virus diseases they could be exposed to if proper care is not taken.
The programme tagged: “Together for a period friendly world,” was supported by Ondo State Contributory Health Commission, Rotary Club of Akure-Metro, D9126, Broader Accessible-Health Initiatives, National Association of Nigeria Nurses & Midwives(NANNM).
Other organizations that that supported the programme are Association of Public Health Physicians, Lions, Akure Millennium Specialty Club, Girls2Women, WiseVirgins, GirlsOn, Kids & Teens Resource Centre and MSI Nigeria.
