Ondo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo, SAN, has hailed the Senate’s approval for the establishment of a Federal Information Technology University in Ikare-Akoko, describing the development as a significant leap forward for education, digital innovation, and regional advancement.
The Attorney General, in a statement issued on Wednesday, commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for creating the enabling environment that facilitated the historic approval. He praised the leadership of the Nigerian Senate and particularly lauded the efforts of Senator Jide Ipinsagba, who represents Ondo North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, for championing the bill and ensuring its legislative success.
“This is a landmark achievement that holds transformative potential for our people, especially the youth. The university, when established, will be the first of its kind in this region, dedicated entirely to cutting-edge information technology, software development, and digital research. I salute Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s visionary leadership and express gratitude to Senator Ipinsagba for his unwavering dedication to the cause.” The statement read.
Dr. Ajulo emphasised that the establishment of the university in Ikare-Akoko would not only boost the local economy but also position the region as a hub for technological education and innovation in Nigeria. He called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to promptly sign the bill into law to ensure the immediate takeoff of the university, which he said aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the federal government.
“This is not just an academic institution, it is a strategic investment in Nigeria’s digital future. We urge Mr. President to give his assent without delay.” He added.
Dr. Ajulo also extended appreciation to the royal fathers and community leaders in Akoko for their mutual support and unity of purpose, noting that their collective advocacy contributed significantly to the success of the legislative process.
