The people of Kitiriko Community in Chanchaga Local Government Area of Niger State, have dragged the Abuja Electricity Company (AEDC) to Minna Chief Magistrate Court ourt Number (1) over multiple billings.
The Spokesman of the Community, Engr. Ibrahim Adamu Haruna disclosed that the Community has been existing without power supply for the last seven months yet the Abuja Electricity Company AEDC has been subjecting them to multiple Billings.
Speaking with Journalists in Minna, on Thursday, Engr. Ibrahim stated that the community has been subjected to total blackout for over seven months, which led to Governor Umar Mohammed Bago donating a big transformer to the community.
According to him since the donation of the transformer, the community were trying to contribute money to purchase of some accessories that will power the transformer.
” Unfortunately, the AEDC keep on over billings us without any reasons which informed our decision to drag them to court to stop them from unnecessary billing us’
” We are in Court with AEDC for the court to prevail on them to stop them from this multiple billings without enjoying the service we are paying for”
” We are asking the Court to prevail on them to stop the AEDC from the over billings to Kutiriko
Community. For the past seven months they keep bringing bill to us. We approached the court seeking redress and to also stop them from overbilling” he told Journalists.
Engr. Ibrahim also explained that the AEDC deliberately refused to install the cable and other accessories that was needed for the installation of the transformer for the community.
When the case came up for hearing before Chief Magistrate Hajiya Ummul Khatum Mohammed, the defense counsel Barrister Danjuma Mohammed told the court that the AEDC had approached the plaintiff for settlement out of court.
She then adjourned the case to the 18th of March, 2025.
