In response to complaints by some parents and guardians of students in the boarding houses in public schools, the Ondo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has denied approving any upward review of boarding fees in public School.
According to a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs Folasade Adegoke, the Ministry has therefore suspended the enforcement of any increment in boarding fees by managements of public secondary schools across the state.
The permanent secretary ordered that managements of all public secondary schools operating boarding system should suspend implementation of any increment forthwith.
It was also stated that “arrangements are being made to convey a stakeholders’ meeting with the schools’ managements towards arriving at a strategic procedure capable of addressing such mixups.
“The state government has not approved any upward review of boarding fees in its public secondary schools and therefore regrets any embarrassment such development might have caused on parents.”
