Nine-time Nigeria Premier League champions Enyimba are determined to bounce back from last weekend’s setback as they prepare to host Warri Wolves in a highly anticipated matchday nine fixture at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, on Sunday (today).
The People’s Elephant saw their seven-match unbeaten run ended by Kun Khalifat in Owerri, where a 69th-minute free kick condemned them to a 1–0 defeat in Owerri.
Defender Fabian Nwaorie said the disappointment from that result has fuelled the team’s hunger to deliver a convincingresponse in front of their home fans.
Nwaorie told Enyimba Media that the squad’s frustration after the Owerri defeat had quickly turned into motivation. He explained that the players had stepped up their preparations throughout the week and were focused on ensuring victory against the visitors from Delta.
Enyimba’s historical record against Warri Wolves suggests an edge, with five wins, eight draws, and only three defeats since 2009. However, Wolves showed resilience in their last outing, holding Niger Tornadoes to a 1–1 draw in Ozoro.
With the title race tightening, leaders Nasarawa United on 19 points and Abia Warriors just behind on 15, Enyimba, sitting third with 13, know that victory in Aba is vital to keep pace with the front-runners.
Kick-off at the Enyimba International Stadium is scheduled for 4:00 pm on Sunday, with the game to be broadcast live on NPFLTV.
