Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national Secretariat has commended Edo State youths for apprehending alleged All Progressives Congress (APC) thugs attempting to smuggle firearms into the state.
A statement by the National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Hon. Debo Ologunagba on Friday evening alleged that some youths, with the assistance of security operatives,arrested some persons with arms and ammunition in Edo State.
The statement reads inter alia: “The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) salutes the people of Edo State for their show of courage in apprehending some All Progressives Congress (APC) thugs allegedly attempting to smuggle guns into Edo State this evening.
“Our Party also salutes the patriotic security operatives who assisted in apprehending the APC thugs with the weapons which the APC apparently planned to use to unleash violence and disrupt the peaceful conduct of the Saturday, September 21, 2024 Governorship election in Edo State.
“The PDP demands that the Police ensure that none of the apprehended APC thugs escapes justice but appropriately prosecuted.
“The PDP urges the people of Edo State to remain peaceful but at alert and vigilant in the determination to protect their democratic rights and votes at the poll.”
The off-circle gubernatorial election would be held tomorrow(Saturday) in Edo State and the people of the state are determined to ensure that their votes count.
