The Director-General of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Dr. Afiz Oluwaoyin Ogun, has joined millions of Nigerians in commemorating June 12 Democracy Day, celebrating 26 years of uninterrupted democratic governance in Nigeria.
In his Democracy Day message, Dr. Ogun hailed the milestone as a profound achievement in the nation’s political evolution, describing it as a reflection of the people’s unwavering determination to uphold freedom, Justice, and participatory governance.
“Today, we honor the legacy of Chief MKO Abiola and all those who laid down their lives in the pursuit of democracy. Their sacrifices must continue to remind us of the value of unity, equity, and accountable leadership,” he said.
He urged Nigerians across all sectors to renew their commitment to the democratic ideals that underpin national development. According to him, Nigeria’s progress rests on the shared responsibility of both government and citizens to ensure good governance, economic growth, and social harmony.
Dr. Ogun further commended the ongoing reform efforts of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stressing the importance of collective support in driving sustainable change.
“At the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), we remain committed to empowering Nigerians through innovative skill development and training programmes that equip the workforce for national productivity in a democratic economy,” he noted.
He encouraged Nigerians to see Democracy Day as both a celebration and a call to action-an opportunity to reflect on past achievements and recommit to building a future anchored on national unity, prosperity, and dignity for all.
