The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shu’aibu, on Friday, inaugurated three renovated blocks of family flats for soldiers at the Ribadu Cantonment, Kaduna.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that each of the blocks contained 30 flats, bringing the total to 90 family flats for soldiers and their families.

Shu’aibu, who was represented by the General Officer Commanding 1 Division, Nigerian Army, and Commander, Sector 1, Operation Fansan Yamma, Maj.-Gen. Abubakar Wase said the project was in line with the Army’s commitment to improving personnel welfare.

He explained that the blocks were previously occupied but had deteriorated

Shuaibu said, “This necessitated the relocation of residents to allow for renovation.”

“I approved the funds for the project, as part of his vision to prioritise soldiers’ welfare and enhance their living conditions.

“This is one of several renovation projects executed across formations, while more are ongoing. New accommodation blocks are also being constructed to address housing deficits.”

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Fumilayo Yonde, who spoke on behalf of residents of Block 20, commended the Army’s leadership for the intervention.

She described the condition of the block before the renovation as deplorable, noting that occupants lived in fear due to falling debris from the structure.

Yonde pledged that the residents would ensure the proper maintenance of the facility and prayed for continued success for the Army leadership.

Reporte shows that the projects were completed in three months.
