Operatives of Ondo State Police Command have busted an armed robbery syndicate operating across the state.
According to a statement signed by the Spokesman for the Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, disclosed that a significant breakthrough in a case involving armed robbery, criminal conspiracy, and forgery of vehicular documents, linked to the forceful invasion of a private company in Akure has been made.
He said: “On February 8, 2023, at about 1:00 am, a group of armed men stormed the premises of Dollar Boys Global Investment, located at Okuta Elerinla, Akure.
“The assailants, wielding firearms and other dangerous weapons, subdued the company’s security personnel, inflicted bodily harm, and made away with a white DAF truck bearing registration number T94121 and chassis number XLRTE85COF572200, along with other valuables.
“Following a formal petition by the vehicle’s owner, received and transmitted through the office of the Commissioner of Police on May 23, 2025, operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad (AKS) launched a thorough and intelligence-led investigation.
“By tracing the truck’s unique chassis number, the team successfully tracked the stolen vehicle to Brinni Kudi in Jigawa State, where one suspect was apprehended.
“Subsequent leads extended the operation to Gulu in Rimi Gado Local Government Area and Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State, where two additional suspects were arrested.
“The operation later moved to Dogodaji House in Sokoto State, leading to the arrest of two more suspects and the eventual recovery of the stolen truck.
“Preliminary findings revealed that the syndicate had significantly modified the stolen vehicle, altering its structure and identification features in an attempt to frustrate law enforcement efforts and prevent detection.
“Nevertheless, through meticulous investigation and unwavering resolve, the Ondo State Police Command successfully cracked and dismantled the syndicate behind the crime.
“So far, a total of five suspects have been arrested in connection with the case.
“This achievement aligns with the vision and mission of the Inspector General of Police, which emphasizes people-centered policing that is accountable, intelligence-driven, and compliant with the rule of law. It further reinforces the unwavering commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to protect lives and property, regardless of distance or jurisdiction.
“The Command assures the public that no offender who commits a crime in Ondo State will escape justice, no matter how far they flee or how deeply they attempt to conceal their trail. Our operational reach is robust, and our resolve to uphold law and order remains absolute.”
