The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) would on Monday, June 23, 2025, conduct its chairmanship primaries across all six Area Councils in preparation for the February 2026 Council elections.
No fewer than 15 aspirants would be contesting to fly the party’s flag across the Area Councils.
A statement signed by Josephine Itoyah-Splendor, PDP FCT Publicity Secretary, on Sunday, said the primaries would be competitive and transparent, as the party is poised to continued to deepen its internal democracy and return to power at the grassroots.
According to the statement, aspirants at Gwagwalada include Hon. Kassim Mohammed, a two-time Vice Chairman of the Area Council, and Hon. Rabiu Adamu Saba.
At Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Zadna Dantani, the immediate past Supervisory Councillor for Works, and William Gade.
At Kwali, Ibrahim Daniel, a former Executive Chairman, Sahzin Zakka Madaki and Haruna Pai are the aspirants.
At Bwari, there are six aspirants. They are Julius Adamu, Bitrus E. Jebida, Ifraimu Dauda, Haruna Mohammed, Zakanbonton Abdullah and Bulus Bello Zaki.
Meanwhile, both Kuje and Abaji:have unopposed candidates as they were affirmed by delegates.
The candidate for Kuje isHon. Danlami A. Zakwoyi, while Hon. Bilyaminu Musa is the candidate for Abaji.
Moreover, the FCT PDP Chairman, Hon. Ismaila Dogara, reiterated the party’s commitment to a transparent, fair, and credible process, emphasizing that the era of imposition is over.
He said: “We are going back to the people. It is time to choose the people’s choice as the party’s mandate.”
