The assassination attempt on former President of the United States, Donald Trump has been condemned by Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday.

President Tinubu described the development as distasteful and going beyond the democratic norms.
Tinubu’s displeasure was made known on his X handle, formerly Twitter.
His writes: “The attack on former President Donald Trump is distasteful and goes beyond the pale of democratic norms. Violence has no place in democracy.
“I extend my sympathies to the former President and wish him relief. I also condole with the family of the deceased and those wounded and wish them a quick recovery.
“Nigeria stands in solidarity with the United States of America at this time.”
Donald Trump was hit on the upper part of his right ear while on rostrum at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania but gunshot.
Trump, who is the presumptive Republican nominee was whisked off the rostrum during his last rally before the Republican National Convention opens on Monday.
There were reports that the gunman was a 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks who’s residence was about 35 kilometers away from the venue of the rally.
He was shot dead by the security operatives during the shooting.
It was also discovered that the gunman was a registered member of Trump’s political party, the Republican, but would be voting for the first time in the forthcoming election if he had not been killed.
