For smoother and more efficient participation of corps members in the National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) scheme, the House of Representatives has called upon the Federal Government to establish more permanent orientation camps.
This followed the adoption of a motion presented by Garba Muhammad at plenary on Thursday.
Muhammad emphasized on the poor state of orientation facilities across the country and emphasized the need for government intervention.
He said: “The House is alarmed that several states still lack standard orientation camps, forcing authorities to make temporary arrangements by using secondary school buildings. This not only strains available resources but also compromises the comfort and safety of corps members.
“The establishment and expansion of orientation camps, complete with state-of-the-art infrastructure, will help foster youth empowerment, skill acquisition, and national development.”
The House, therefore, charged the Federal Government to partner with state governments to construct new orientation camps and upgrade existing ones to meet modern standards.
