Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has pledged that Rivers State will honour the late Chief Edwin Clark if the Federal Government fails to do so.
Leading a condolence visit to Clark’s family and PANDEF in Abuja on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, Fubara said he wore white instead of traditional black mourning attire to celebrate Pa Clark’s impactful and fulfilling 97 years of life.
The governor emphasized that he decided not to come under the Ijaw platform but as a representative of Rivers State, leading a diverse delegation that included Chief Rufus Ada George, Rt. Hon. Austin Okpara, Sen. Lee Maeba, Dr. Abiye Sekibo, and Prince Uche Secondus.
Fubara described Clark as a selfless leader who dedicated his life to serving humanity and praised his significant contributions to Nigeria’s history.
He also expressed gratitude for Clark’s personal support during challenging times, calling him a symbol of integrity and courage.
He assured that Rivers State would give Clark a befitting burial and, if necessary, immortalise his legacy. The governor urged the family to remain united, emphasizing that living in love is the best way to honor Pa Clark’s enduring legacy.
