Traditional rulers under the auspices of 130 Crown Obas in Ondo State have congratulated Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on his victory at the just concluded gubernatorial election in the state.
They urged the governor to redouble his efforts in transforming the state now that the election is over.
In a congratulatory message of the traditional rulers to the governor and his deputy, Dr. Olayide Adelami, on Tuesday signed by their President, Oba Samuel Adeoye Edema, the traditional rulers said the emergence of the governor at the poll was divine.
President of the traditional rulers, Oba Edema, who is also the Molokun of Atijere in Ilaje, said: “The victory of the Governor at the poll did not come as a surprise considering his leadership qualities and performance in the office since he took over few months ago.”
Meanwhile, the traditional rulers had, before the election, offered prayers for the success of the governor, describing him as the best choice for to continue his good jobs for the state.
They acknowledged with delight the respect being accorded traditional institutions by the Governor as demonstrated in some of his public and private engagements with them.
The traditional rulers, who commended the governor for his efforts in moving the state forward, urged him to redouble his efforts at transforming the state.
They also advised the governor not to misplace the trust of the electorate.
However, the 130 crown obas appealed to the governor to reach out to his co-contestants, while they appealed to the other candidates in the election to sheath their swords in the interest of the state and work harmoniously with the winner
They, therefore, appealed to the political class in the state to sustain the existing peaceful atmosphere, noting that “no ambition worths the lives of the citizens.”
