Yiaga Africa, an observing organization, has described the election results released by Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) as accurate with its own findings.
Reading the report of the organization shortly after INEC declared the winner of the election, Mr. Ezenwa Nwagwu chair of the 2024 Ondo Election Mission, said Yiaga Africa deployed Process and Results Verification for Transparency(PRVT) methodology to observe the governorship election.
He said: “The PRVT findings reveal that the results announced by INEC for all the 18 LGAs are consistent with the PRVT estimates for the governorship election in Ondo State.
“Had the official results been charged at the ward, LGA, or state collation centres, they would not have fallen within the Yiaga Africa WTV(watching the vote) estimated ranges. Because the official results fall within the estimated ranges, governorship contestants, parties, and voters should have confidence that the official results for the 2024 Ondo governorship election reflect the ballot cast at polling units.”
Moreover, Yiaga Africa charged INEC “to take deliberate steps to protect secrecy of the ballot and enforce its electoral guidelines especially as it relates to secrecy of the ballot.
“Election offenders arrested during the Ondo election should be handed over to the police for due prosecution.
“In addition, security agencies should be more proactive in arresting and prosecuting perpetrators of voter inducement and vote-buying.”
Yiaga Africa disclosed that its “statistical analysis shows that APC should receive between 72.1 percent and 75.7 percent of the vote, PDP 20.0 percent, and no other political party should receive more than 3.7 percent of the vote.”
