Helen Folasade Adu, the iconic Nigerian-born British singer known globally as Sade Adu, has once again been nominated for induction into the prestigious Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
This marks her second nomination, placing her among a distinguished group of artists vying for a spot in the 2026 class.
The 67-year-old Grammy winner, celebrated for her distinctive contralto voice and enduring hits such as ‘Smooth Operator’ and ‘The Sweetest Taboo,’ is part of a diverse roster of 17 nominees. The list, unveiled on Wednesday by the Hall, features a blend of genres and includes ten artists making their debut on the ballot.
To be considered for induction, artists must have released their inaugural commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the nomination year. The final inductees for 2026 will be determined by a voting body comprising over 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry professionals. The results are anticipated to be announced in April, with the official induction ceremony scheduled for later in the year.
Sade Adu previously received a nomination for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2024. Her illustrious career includes a historic moment in 1986 when she became the first Nigerian-born artist to win a Grammy Award. She is widely recognized as one of the most successful British female artists in music history.
